What do you want to know about izzyL
IzzyL (Ismael Laureano) was born in the Fordham section on the Bronx. He's the middle child of three children and the only boy. Izzy was a small kid who was bullied for most of his childhood but developed courage to fight back and overcame being bully during junior high school. It was then that Izzy was interested in comic books. His favorite comic book was the Amazing Spider-man.
It was during the summer of 1987 when Izzy started collecting comic books, his first book was Marvel Tales #206.
A book he still owns today. Just like a kid of his age who collected comics, the book looks like a mess. Stains and creases , marks and writing all over it. However, what memories would come from that single book. Whether it the story of Spider-Man and Thor battling the Living Monolith or the appearance of Havok at the end of the story. It was even the ridiculous Spider-Ham backup story. The art was from legendary artist John Bryne and written by Chris Claremont. In 1987, the books that influence Izzy were the Uncanny X-men and Incredible Hulk. X-men was written by Chris Claremont with art by Marc Silvestri. While Hulk was done by Peter David and Todd McFarlane.
Let's not forget Spider-Man, it was during this time that the artist were being spotlighted. This was the age of Jim Lee, Rob Liefeld, Silvestri, McFarlane; all these guys influence Izzy in one way or another but there was one artist that top them all and it was Art Adams. IzzyL was hooked and began drawing everyday and reading books all the time. He couldn't wait till Wednesday for new books to come out from his corner seller. Izzy loved comics and got into Marvel and DC books. The book that changed everything was the Infinity Gauntlet.
What a book and it introduced Izzy to what would be his favorite character Adam Warlock.

Izzy was amazed by the character and his backstory. Jim Starlin did such a great job with Adam Warlock. Warlock was everywhere during the 90s. Izzy had all the comics with Warlock. He had posters and t-shirts. He collected all the Infinity books and Warlock and Infinity Watch and Warlock Chronicles.
Izzy continue to pursue a career in comics. He went to college and obtain a degree in Graphic Design. Afterwards, Izzy took correspondence courses at the Joe Kubert School. He learn a lot from the courses and completed 3 courses.
